Who is TCHERs?

We are an island-wide organization dedicated to guiding and supporting families who choose home education. Our annual membership helps cover the organization's operating expenses, allowing us to keep our website and social media information current and up to date.

We provide free guidance and support to families through:

Free resources available on our website.
Guidance via email.
Group orientation sessions through digital platforms.
A general information page on Facebook.
A private Facebook group for members.

We also provide free guidance to families on how to establish and develop local support groups throughout the island.

What TCHERs Is NOT:

  • We are not a local support group that holds regular meetings or activities like community-based homeschool groups.
  • We are not a non-traditional school (such as an online school, umbrella school, or accelerated school). Our approach is that parents take the lead and are responsible for educating their own children, maintaining full control over the content, scope, and sequence of the educational materials they choose for their family.
  • We do not sell, endorse, or provide curricula, learning modules, or educational materials. We are not affiliated with any publishing company or business that offers educational resources or products.
  • We do not maintain a directory or database of teachers, tutors, non-traditional schools, or similar services. These services are not required for homeschooling. If you choose to hire them, we encourage you to verify that they have the appropriate licenses or credentials.
  • We do not issue permits, licenses, or certifications to homeschool. Our organization only provides a membership certificate that verifies your affiliation with TCHERs.

Note: Our guidance is designed specifically for Puerto Rico and reflects its laws, government agency procedures, and documentation related to the traditional school system. If you reside in another country or U.S. state, you should research the laws and regulations that apply in your place of residence.
